Estudo químico de Tovomita pyrifolium Planch et Triana

Abstract

From the ethanolic extract of the trunk wood of Tovomita pyrifolium P1. et Tr., family Guttiferae, have been isolated six xanthones: tovopyrifolin B (1), osajaxanthone (2), tovopyrifolin A (3), tovopyrifolin D (4), tovophyllin B (5) and tovophyllin A (9); one pentacyclic triterpene: betulinic acid (6); and one mixture of two steroids: sitosterol (7) and stigmasterol (8). Chromatographic methods were used in the separations of the substances. The structures were elucidated on the basis of the interpretation of the spectral data of the compounds and of their derivatives obtained by acetylation and methylation. A review of xanthones that have been reported was discussed. The biogenetic study of xanthones was considered.
