O agronegócio da pecuária no Triângulo Mineiro/Alto Paranaíba: relações de poder e políticas públicas de 1990 a 2010

Abstract

This research aimed to understand the territorial impacts generated by the activity in beef cattle in the mesoregion Triângulo Mineiro / Alto Paranaíba, during the period 1990-2010. The proposal was to identify through the programs, projects and agricultural policies, the way that agribusiness cattle emerged in mining lands and to analyze its impact social, political and economic into the territory. From the study, we explored the forms of assistance provided by the state and by large institutions such as the Brazilian Association of Zebu Breeders (ABCZ), which led to the expansion and strengthening of livestock in this region in particular. So even being considered by other agribusiness sectors, such as the soy and cane sugar - the latter being one of the most significant in terms of production and extension within triangulino since the 1990s - as a segment late, politically conservative and environmentally destructive, the cattle still remains representative across meso, possessing even one of the best productivity rates in the state of Minas Gerais. Finally, the study sought to understand the way the agrarian elites come settling and re-organizing, meeting the new requirements posed by agribusiness economy while perpetuating its power relations historically established site.
