| dc.description.abstract | As endoparasitoses são uma das principais causas de morbidade em cães. Em animais imunocomprometidos não diagnosticados e tratados precocemente estas infecções podem levar a complicações que alteram a saúde e o bem-estar. O objetivo do estudo foi avaliar as endoparasitoses em cães com neoplasias. Os animais foram divididos em dois grupos: cães com neoplasias (grupo I) e cães hígidos (grupo II). Três amostras de fezes foram coletadas de cada animal em dias consecutivos e processadas pelas técnicas de centrífugo- flutuação, Faust e Ritchie. No GI foram identificados a presença dos helmintos Ancylostoma spp. e Trichuris spp. e o protozoário Giardia sp. e no GII, identificou-se Ancylostoma spp. e Giardia sp. Cães com neoplasias foram positivos em 14,6% das análises para helmintos e protozoários, enquanto cães hígidos tiveram 7,2% dos exames positivos não havendo diferença estatística entre eles (p=0.153). Animais positivos que apresentavam neoplasias malignas e comorbidades associadas apresentaram sinais clínicos gastrointestinais. Apesar da frequência de parasitos gastrointestinais ser maior no grupo portador de neoplasia, não pode ser considerada, isoladamente, como fator de risco para infecções parasitárias. Porém, animais com neoplasias malignas e comorbidades podem apresentar sinais clínicos, que agravam a saúde destes pacientes. | pt_BR |

| dc.description.abstractOther | Endoparasitoses are one of the main causes of morbidity in dogs. Immunocompromised animals that are not diagnosed and treated early, these infections can lead to complications that affect health and well-being. This study aimed to evaluate endoparasitosis in dogs diagnosed with neoplasia. The dogs were divided into two groups: neoplastic (Group I) and healthy (Group II). Three fecal samples were collected from each animal on consecutive days and processed using the centrifugal-flotation, Faust, and Ritchie techniques. In the GI samples, the helminths Ancylostoma spp. and Trichuris spp. and the protozoan Giardia sp. were identified, and in GII, Ancylostoma spp. and Giardia sp. were identified. Neoplastic dogs tested positive for helminths and protozoa at a rate of 14.6%, whereas healthy dogs exhibited a positivity rate of 7.2%, with no statistically significant difference between the two groups (p=0.153). Animals that tested positive for malignant neoplasia and had associated comorbidities exhibited gastrointestinal clinical signs. Although the frequency of gastrointestinal parasites is higher in the neoplastic group, it should not be considered in isolation as a risk factor for parasitic infections. Animals diagnosed with malignant neoplasms, particularly those with concurrent comorbidities, may exhibit clinical signs that can further complicate their overall health status. | en |
