| pt_BR |

| dc.description.abstractOther | The most frequent behavior disorders in male dogs are mounting, masturbation, urine marking and aggression. The suggested treatment is castration associated to an extensive behavior modification. The aim of this study was to find an alternative to castration for those owners that don’t agree with the surgery. Ten male dogs with those behavior disorders were submitted to laboratory evaluation and testosterone dosage. The animals were treated for 30 days with cyproterone acetate and all dogs improved their undesirable behaviors besides the decrease of testosterone dosage. The use of cyproterone acetate is effective to treat mounting, urine marking and dog’s aggression and it’s an option to castration, which is still the first option to treat these behavior disorders. | en |
